Glamping in Bela Krajina, Just Minutes from the Kolpa River | Family Holidays in Nature
There are holidays when we want to see and do as much as possible. And then there are those other kinds of holidays – when, after a few days, you realise there really is no need to rush anywhere.

Kolpa Resort is located in Bela Krajina, on the peaceful grounds of the former Krasinec Castle, just a few minutes from the Kolpa River. Our small glamping resort and campsite is especially suited to families looking for something quite simple: time together, plenty of time outdoors and a chance to slow down for a few days.
You won’t find large entertainment programmes or schedules telling you what to do at ten in the morning and where to be at three in the afternoon. Children usually work that out for themselves pretty quickly. A bike, the pool, a ball, the garden… while the adults rediscover just how good a quiet cup of coffee can be.
Mornings when there is nowhere you need to be
Mornings at Kolpa Resort are slow.
Some guests start the day with breakfast on their terrace, others with a coffee by the pool. Children are usually quicker – before the adults have finished their first coffee, they are often already on their bikes or exploring the resort.
And that is one of the things we love most about holidays in nature. Children don’t need a programme planned for every moment of the day. Give them enough space and freedom, and they are surprisingly good at creating their own adventures.
For families looking for glamping in Bela Krajina, the small size of our resort is also part of its appeal. Everything is close by, and the number of accommodation units and camping pitches is limited, helping us maintain the relaxed atmosphere of a small resort even in the middle of summer.
The natural swimming pool – the heart of summer at Kolpa Resort
If we had to choose one place where most of the summer life at Kolpa Resort happens, it would definitely be our natural swimming pool.
It is 20 metres long, and the water is purified using plants and natural biological processes, without chlorine.
Children, of course, have their own plans for the pool. Adults can actually swim a few proper lengths, and then usually comes that part of the day when you find some shade, open a book and realise there really is no need to be anywhere else.
And sometimes, that is more than enough for a summer day.
From the pool to the Kolpa River
If you get a little too comfortable by the pool, it might be time for the river.
The Kolpa River is just a few minutes away and almost always finds its way into our guests’ summer plans.
Kayaks and SUP boards are available for our guests, so you can swap your sun lounger for a paddle and spend part of the day on the water. If you would like to take a longer trip down the Kolpa, we can also help arrange it with our local partners.
A visit to the Kolpa can be a half-day adventure or simply a place to cool off in the afternoon. And from a kayak or SUP board, the landscape looks just a little different.
Exploring Bela Krajina on two wheels
If you prefer to stay on dry land, there is always the bicycle.
Routes around Kolpa Resort take you through the villages of Bela Krajina, past vineyards and towards the Kolpa River. You can rent a bicycle from us, and if you bring your own, a bike storage area with basic tools for minor repairs is available.
Children have their own version of a cycling holiday – our bike park. It is a place to practise those first turns, balance and cycling skills, with the occasional competition that somehow starts without the adults ever quite knowing when or how.
One of the best things is that you don’t even need to get in the car for many of these activities.
And what if you don’t feel like doing anything?
Doing nothing is a perfectly good plan too.
You can stay by the pool, play badminton or volleyball, let the children explore our little garden and take your time over a cold drink. In the evening, perhaps a glass of local Bela Krajina wine.
There are plenty of places worth discovering in Bela Krajina, and we are always happy to recommend where to go. But something happens quite often: guests arrive with a long list of excursions and, after a few days, decide to skip one or two.
Simply because they are quite happy staying here.
Glamping for families who love nature – and a little comfort too
A holiday in nature doesn’t necessarily mean giving up comfort.
Kolpa Resort has 14 glamping units and a small campsite with a limited number of pitches. Some of our glamping accommodation has a private bathroom, while other units offer a simpler way of staying close to nature.
But they all have one thing in common: much of your day is spent outdoors.
Breakfast on the terrace, wet swimsuits drying after an afternoon by the water, children’s bikes parked outside your accommodation and those summer evenings when the air finally starts to cool.
These are the little moments from a summer holiday that often stay with us long after we have returned home.
Why choose Bela Krajina for a family holiday?
Bela Krajina is still one of those parts of Slovenia where you don’t have to go far to find peace and quiet.
There is the Kolpa River, vineyards, small villages, local winemakers and traditional Bela Krajina cuisine. One day you can cycle, paddle and explore the surrounding countryside, and the next you can do almost nothing at all.
And perhaps that is the best part of a holiday here.
You don’t have to choose between an active holiday and slowing down.
You can have both.
Welcome to Bela Krajina.
